Description

Using FF3 (build 2008061004) and GM 0.8.20080609.0 on Mac OS 10.5.3 Intel

All GM builds from .7.20080505x through current will bring up the install dialog and countdown to zero, bringing focus on Install, though clicking on it/pressing enter has no result. Same holds for Show Source. Cancel button works as expected.

In builds before .7.20080505x show error on script install [0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)].

Does anything appear in the error console when clicking either button?

Not really. There's a warning in the FF console (Warning: Error in parsing value for property 'filter'. Declaration dropped.)

The Mac console shows: (shouldload:http://userscripts.org/scripts/source/scriptIDnumber)

This is a clean install of both ff3 and greasemonkey on a new mac. on an older installation on a G5 iMac, installed scripts continued to work, though new ones couldn't be added. Also tried loading greasemonkey as only extension with no luck.

Update:

Turns out, it does install into gm_scripts, though the dialog box doesn't close. However, scripts installed into the gm_scripts directory aren't visible to GM even after a FF3 restart.

Replying to andino..@gmail.com:

Turns out, it does install into gm_scripts .. ![but isn't!] .. visible to GM even after a FF3 restart.

This is useful information. It probably means there's a problem with modifying the config.xml file that keeps track of which scripts are installed. Is this file in your gm_scripts directory? If so, does it change at all when (mostly) installing a script?

Fixed it, though it may still qualify as a bug. The config.xml file was stuck with only the <UserScriptConfig?> tag, which was empty. I trashed that file and rebooted FF3, and it wrote a new file that allows installation like normal. I haven't tried to replicate the original conditions (clean install of FF3 and GM on Leopard), but the trashing of the gm_scripts/config.xml file solved everything. Folder permissions were 755, though I admit I didn't check if the file was. Too much beer and frustration, I guess.
