Windows Vista SP1-Cannot Install User Scripts

I have disabled all plugins, same error, can't install any scripts. I created a new, empty profile, same thing.

I am now running FF 3.0 final (seems to be the same build as RC3?). I completely removed my old install of FF RC3, all user data directories and registry entries. Started with a fresh install, no other extensions, no modifications. Completely vanilla install, Greasemonkey only. Evidently I am missing a file or my permissions do not allow the file needed to be written, and I cannot figure out which file or where the permissions need to be changed. I am running Windows Vista 32 bit SP1.

It also seems I am not the only one having this problem.

PLEASE HELP.

I may have fixed this. I did two things, I created an empty text file named "config.xml" and placed it in every directory under: C:\Users\VISTA_USER_NAME\AppData?\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles \ljnuw7ej.default\extensions\{e4a8a97b-f2ed-450b-b12d-ee082ba24781} That may be different on your system, so open the profiles folder and do a search for "grease", use that path.

I also had two folders that I had not seen before that started with "gm_" located at: C:\Users\VISTA_USER_NAME\AppData?\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles \ljnuw7ej.default\ I moved them to a temporary location rather than delete them just in case. Once I did those two things, Greasemonkey is working again!

Replace VISTA_USER_NAME with the name you log into Windows with in the paths above.

Tested with:

As described, GM itself installs just fine. Then I went to http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/19933 and clicked 'install this script'. I got the expected dialog, I clicked ok, and it installed as expected. No errors in the console.
