I use Thunderbird for reading various RSS feeds. As those are usually displaying (linking to) HTML pages, it would be very useful if Greasemonkey could also be used in Thunderbird to customize the appearence of the Feeds.

Agreed. Incidentally, I think SeaMonkey? can apply Greasemonkey scripts to emails etc.
